Reach Ability is a service that provides pathways through support, training and employment to enable people with disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lifestyles. Our services have been trusted across Wexford since 1975 and Reach Ability (formally County Wexford Community Workshop) is now recognised as a leading provider of quality care for people with intellectual disabilities. It is our mission to enable and empower people with disabilities to live the life of their choice to their upmost ability. Our services are person-centred and are led by the people who use them.
We now have community inclusion hubs based all over Wexford, one being located in the bustling village of Castlebridge. The aim of Castlebridge Hub is to support people who use our services to become more familiar with their community and to have a more active and fulfilling role within that community. We provide people with a range of opportunities, experiences and supports in line with their personal hopes, dreams and wishes, to maximise their independence, quality of life and participation in their local community.
Individuals also use public transport to access community facilities in Wexford town such as the library, local swimming pools and gyms based in the Hotels or Ferrybank and the WWETB training courses based in Whitemill.
Some other examples include:
- Community networking
- Use of local walking routes and hikes to promote healthy lifestyle eg. Eden Vale nature trail, Curracloe and the Raven
- Locally sourced work experience opportunities
- Training in the use of public transport
- Participation in local community projects and initiatives eg. the Tidy Towns in Castlebridge
- The Castlebridge Community Garden where the group have a plot and enjoy the gardening community that meet there regularly
- Bridge Rovers FC use of Astro Turf for sporting/exercise activities
